Sooji ka Halwa, a traditional and classic dessert made with semolina, desi ghee and dry fruits. Sooji Halwa Recipe is quick and easy halwa often made at Indian homes during any festival or puja.
It could be any festival like Diwali, Navratri Puja, Ganesh Utsav or any celebration conducted at home. In Western India, it is known as Rava Sheera and Rava Kesari in South India. The preparation method is almost same, though sooji is the main ingredient. For flavouring, green cardamom powder and kesar is used.

Ingredients
- ½ cup sooji or rava
- Sugar as required
- ½ cup ghee
- 4-5 green cardamom, powdered
- Dry Fruits (8-10 cashew nuts, raisins and almonds)
- 1 ½ cup of water
How to make Sooji Halwa Recipe
Step 1: Take a Kadai and add desi ghee in it. Heat the ghee on low flame. Then, add sooji and roast it. Also, add cashews and almonds and stir well
Step 2: Keep on stirring the sooji, so that it gets roasted evenly.
Step 3: In the meantime, take another pan put water and sugar in it. Keep the pan on high flame and let the sugar solution come to boil.
Step 4: Once the mixture starts to boil, lower the flame and let it simmer.
Step 5: Keep sautéing the sooji till it turns light golden in color. Then add cardamom powder and raisins in it.
Step 6: Now, add the sugar syrup solution gently in it. Keep stirring it continuously, so that no lumps will be formed.
Step 7: Sooji will start to absorb the water. The whole mixture will get thicken and edges of kadai starts to leave.
Step 8: Sooji ka halwa is ready. Serve hot.

Well! To start with…i was never able to make sooji halwa properly. The texture and taste never came out like the one i used to eat out or at somebodys house. But Shivani, your recipe rocks!! The measurements are perfect and now i make it once a week for breakfast.
