Lauki Aloo Matar Recipe | Bottle Gourd Potato Peas Curry
There are some vegetables you like or dislike. Lauki is also one of the vegetable which most of the people hate. Lauki can be tasty too when cooked with potatoes and green peas. The combination of potatoes and green peas with lauki gives a delicious addition to the curry and a colourful texture too.

- 1 Bottle Gourd (Lauki), peeled and cubed
- 2 Potatoes, peeled and cubed
- 1 cup green peas, fresh or frozen
- 1 onion, finely chopped
- 2 tomatoes, pureed
- 1 teaspoon ginger garlic paste
- 1 teaspoon cumin seeds
- 1 teaspoon coriander powder
- 1/2 teaspoon turmeric powder
- 1/2 teaspoon red chili powder
- Asafoetida- A pinch
- 1/2 teaspoon garam masala
- Salt to taste
- 2 tablespoon oil for cooking
Method to make Lauki Aloo Matar Recipe
Step 1: Wash, peel and cut the potatoes and lauki into small pieces. Peel green peas as well and keep aside.
Step 2: Heat oil in a pressure cooker, add cumin seeds, asafoetida and onions and saute for a minute.
Step 3: Add ginger garlic paste and cook till the raw smell goes away.
Step 4: Add tomato puree, coriander powder, turmeric powder, red chili powder and salt and mix well all the ingredients. Stir till the oil starts separating from the edges.
Step 5: Put potatoes, bottle gourd and ½ cup water and mix well. Add green peas, cover the lid and cook for 2-3 whistles.
Step 6: Once the pressure is released naturally, open the lid and check for salt. Transfer the dish into bowl, garnish with fresh coriander leaves and serve hot.
