- Paneer (cottage cheese) cut into dices- 250 grams
- 1 Onion pureed, 1 onion finely chopped
- 2 Tomatoes pureed, 1 tomato finely sliced
- Ginger-garlic paste- 2 teaspoons
- Green Capsicum- 1 large
- Red chilli powder- 1 teaspoon
- Coriander powder- 1 teaspoon
- Cumin seeds- 1 teaspoon
- Fenugreek Seeds/ Powder- ½ teaspoon
- Turmeric powder- 1/4 teaspoon
- Garam masala- 1 teaspoon
- Bay leaf- 1
- Cinnamon- 1 inch stick
- Black Pepper- 3-4
- Green Elaichi (cardamom)- 2
- Desi Ghee- 2 tablespoons
- Salt to taste
Method to make Kadai Paneer Recipe:
Step 1: Finely chop 1 onion, 1 tomato and 1 large capsicum into slices. Also, make 1 onion paste, 2 tomato puree and ginger garlic paste. Cut 1 green chilli into pieces and set this aside.
Step 2: Heat oil in a pan and add green elaichi (cardamom) bay leaf, cloves, cinnamon sticks, black pepper,cumin seeds, onion paste and ginger garlic paste. Saute till they turn light golden brown.
Step 3: Add finely sliced onion, coriander powder, fenugreek powder and sauté for 2 minutes.
Step 4: Add finely sliced tomato, tomato puree, turmeric powder, red chilli powder, garam masala and salt to taste. Mix well and cook for 4-5 minutes till the masala starts separating oil.
Step 5: Add chopped capsicum and sauté for 2-3 minutes. Put 1/3 cup of water, cover the lid and cook for 5-8 minutes on low flame.
Step 6: Add paneer cubes, mix well and cook for another 5 minutes on low flame.
Step 7: Turn off the heat and transfer the dish into a serving bowl. Pour some desi ghee over it and garnish it with fresh coriander leaves and serve hot.
