Gulab Jamun Recipe, How to make Gulab Jamun
Gulab Jamun, a sweet, easy and mouth watering dessert made with Khoya, Paneer and Maida (All purpose flour). Gulab jamun Recipe is made with Evaporated milk solid is known as Khoya in Hindi. These milk solids are made by continuously heating the milk on low flame. Making Khoya at home will take time but you can easily buy it from any sweet shop and then make Gulab Jamuns with it. The sugar syrup is flavoured with rose water and green cardamom powder. The medium sized dough balls are fried deeply till they turn brownish black in colour.

Ingredients
For Gulab Jamun
- 200 gms khoya
- 100 gms of Paneer, grated
- 2 tablespoon maida
- 2 tablespoon sooji/rava
- 4 green cardamom, powdered
- ½ cup milk
- ½ teaspoon baking powder
- Oil for deep frying
For Sugar Syrup
- 2 cups of Sugar
- 1 cup water
- 1 teaspoon rose water
- A pinch of green cardamom powder
How to make Gulab Jamun Recipe
Step 1: For making Gulab Jamuns balls, take khoya in a bowl. Mash or grate it well so that there should be no lumps.
Step 2: Then add grated paneer, sooji/rava, maida, baking powder and cardamom powder to the mashed khoya. Make sure there should not be any lumps.
Step 3: Add milk, mix well and gather it in the form of dough. Don’t knead. Mix it gently.
Step 4: If the mixture appears too dry, you will not be able to form balls. In this case, add little milk. Cover the dough and keep it aside for 30 minutes.
Step 5: Now, make small balls from this dough and keep aside.
Step 6: In the meantime, prepare making Sugar Syrup
- Take a pan and dissolve sugar in water. Keep heating this liquid till it becomes thick and sticky.
- Add rose water and keep the sugar solution aside till it cools. If the sugar syrup crystallizes, then add 2-3 teaspoons of water and heat it. It will again return to liquid state.
Step 7: For frying gulab jamun, heat oil. Then, lower the flame, wait for 2 minutes and then place the jamun balls into oil.
Step 8: Once they start to turn golden brown, keep on rolling them in the oil so that they turn brownish from all the sides equally.
Step 9: Remove the gulab jamuns and drain them on tissue paper.
Step 10: Now, place the hot jamuns in sugar syrup and keep cooking on low flame for 2-3 minutes till the jamuns become soft. Heating helps jamuns to absorb the syrup well and becomes soft.
Step 11: Gulab Jamuns are ready, now you can serve them hot or at room temperature or even cold. Garnish them with dry fruits.
