  • 2 tablespoon maida
  • 2 tablespoon sooji/rava
  • 4 green cardamom, powdered
  • ½ cup milk
  • ½ teaspoon baking powder
  • Oil for deep frying

For Sugar Syrup

  • 2 cups of Sugar
  • 1 cup water
  • 1 teaspoon rose water
  • A pinch of green cardamom powder

How to make Gulab Jamun Recipe

Step 1: For making Gulab Jamuns balls, take khoya in a bowl. Mash or grate it well so that there should be no lumps.

Step 2: Then add grated paneer, sooji/rava, maida, baking powder and cardamom powder to the mashed khoya. Make sure there should not be any lumps.

Step 3: Add milk, mix well and gather it in the form of dough. Don’t knead. Mix it gently.

Step 4: If the mixture appears too dry, you will not be able to form balls. In this case, add little milk. Cover the dough and keep it aside for 30 minutes.

Step 5: Now, make small balls from this dough and keep aside.

Step 6: In the meantime, prepare making Sugar Syrup

  • Take a pan and dissolve sugar in water. Keep heating this liquid till it becomes thick and sticky.
  • Add rose water and keep the sugar solution aside till it cools. If the sugar syrup crystallizes, then add 2-3 teaspoons of water and heat it. It will again return to liquid state.

Step 7: For frying gulab jamun, heat oil. Then, lower the flame, wait for 2 minutes and then place the jamun balls into oil.

Step 8: Once they start to turn golden brown, keep on rolling them in the oil so that they turn brownish from all the sides equally.

Step 9: Remove the gulab jamuns and drain them on tissue paper.

Step 10: Now, place the hot jamuns in sugar syrup and keep cooking on low flame for 2-3 minutes till the jamuns become soft. Heating helps jamuns to absorb the syrup well and becomes soft.

Step 11: Gulab Jamuns are ready, now you can serve them hot or at room temperature or even cold. Garnish them with dry fruits.
